SCHOLARSHIPS



     Different institutional, state and national scholarships are offered to students to cater the financial needs of poor and needy students and to encourage meritorious students. Scholarship amount of state and national scholarships is transferred directly to students' bank account through Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT). The college has a scholarship committee which includes Principal, Nodal Officer of scholarships and department level scholarship officers from each department. Students are informed about different scholarships when applications are invited. Verification and approval of applications are done by department level scholarship officers and nodal officer of scholarships of the institution. The scholarship committee ensures that online application of scholarships is done by all the deserving students of the institution. Details of different scholarship schemes are as follows


NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. Post Metric Scholarship Scheme for Minorities (PMS)
  2. Students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community (Muslims & Christians) with 50% or equivalent grade in the previous final examination with annual income of the parents/guardian from all sources is less than Rs. 2,00,000/- are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
    Scholarship Amount: Rs. 3000/- per annum for UG and PG students and maintenance allowance of Rs. 570/- per month for hostellers & Rs. 300/- per month for day scholars.

  3.  Central Sector Scholarship (CSS)
  4. Students who have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination conducted by CBSE and have secured the total aggregate marks (in first five subjects) equal or above prescribed minimum marks as per the stream opted by the applicant are eligible to apply for Central Sector Scholarship. Minimum marks for science is 418, Commerce is 396 and other subjects is 332 for all categories of students. Annual income of the parents or guardian from all sources should not exceed Rs. 8,00,000 /-
    Scholarship Amount: Rs. 10, 000/- per annum for UG and Rs. 20, 000/- per annum for PG will be awarded to selected students.

  5.  Post Metric Scholarships for Students with Disabilities (PMSD)
  6. The Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities provide financial assistance to the parents of students with 40 percent above disabilities for studying in post-matric level.
    Scholarship amount: The financial assistance includes maintenance allowance, book grant and disability allowance. Selection of the beneficiaries under these two scholarship schemes is on the basis of merit.

  7. INSPIRE Scholarship (DST, Govt. of India)
  8. The INSPIRE scholarship is offered to pursue undergraduate (UG) studies in science stream in any of the science course or its combination out of 18 identified subjects. The scholarship is continued up to postgraduate (PG) studies and is based on Class 12th standard examination results. Students with top 1% marks of respective Boards or within eligible rank in chosen few competitive examinations such as JEE (main), JEE (advanced), NEET (AIPMT) are selected.
    Scholarship amount: Selected students will get an amount of Rs. 80, 000/- per annum.

  9. PG Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders
  10. The rank holders of each university at undergraduate level to pursue their PG are eligible to apply. All universities/degree awarding institutions would be required to issue rank certificates to the toppers of the university in B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com
    Scholarship Amount: Rs. 3, 100/- per month for a period of two years.

  11.  PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child
  12. Any single girl child, being the only child of her parents, is eligible to apply for the PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child scheme. The scheme is applicable to such a student who has taken admission to the first-year master's degree programmes. The age of the girl student should not exceed 30 years at the time of admission.
    Scholarship Amount: Rs. 36,200/- for a period of two years.

STATE SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. 'E-Grantz' SCHOLARSHIPS

    E-grantz is web-based solutions for the timely disbursement of educational assistance to all eligible students of UG, PG and PhD level, which is independent to availing other eligible scholarships. The annual income of the parent should not exceed Rs 1,00, 000/-.

    The different categories of educational grants/concessions under this scheme are given below:

    1. Educational concession to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Eligible Communities including Kudumbies and Converts

      Scholarship Amount: For undergraduate students lump-sum grant is Rs. 950/- per month and stipend is Rs. 600/- and Rs.530/- per month respectively for students who come from places beyond the distance of 8 km and for students who live within 8 km. For PG students, lump-sum grant is Rs. 675/- and stipend as above. All students eligible for concession should apply in the prescribed forms with necessary documents within one month of their admission to the college.

    2. Educational concession to Socially and Educationally Backward Communities under KPCR

      Scholarship Amount: Full fee concession for Degree students and full fee concession, lump-sum grant and stipend for P.G. Students is provided.  Income limit is Rs. 25,000/- per annum for undergraduate students and Rs. 42,000/- per annum for post graduate students. Applications are to be submitted within two months from the date of admission.

    3. Educational Concession to the Forward Communities under KPCR

      Scholarship Amount: Full fee concession for Degree and P.G. students is provided.
      Income limit is Rs. 25,000/- per annum for degree and Rs. 42,000/- per annum for post graduate students.

    4. Grants for FISHERMAN's Child (Fisherman Scholarship)

      Students of all classes belonging to fishermen community irrespective of income limit are eligible to apply. The application forms are available at the office of the Regional Deputy Director of Fisheries, Kollam.
      Scholarship Amount: Rs. 400/- per annum subject to the date of enrolment.

  2. Kerala State Higher Education Scholarship (HECS)

    First year degree students of Science, Humanities, Social Science, Business Studies with required percentage in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for HES Scholarship.
    Qualifying marks in previous examination: For SC/ST 45% in science and 40% in other subjects. For others 50% in science and 45% in other subjects.
    Scholarship Amount: For UG Rs. 12000/- for first year; Rs.18,000/- for second year (1st Renewal); and Rs. 24,000/- per year (2nd Renewal) for final year; Postgraduation (for continuing education) Rs. 40,000/- for first year (3rd renewal) and Rs. 60,000/- for second year (4th renewal).

  3. State Merit Scholarship (SMS)

    First year student who have scored 50% or above in the qualifying exam within the income limit are eligible for the scholarship. Annual income of the parents/guardian from all sources should not exceed Rs. 1,00,000/-
    Scholarship Amount: For UG Rs. 1250/- per annum for 3 years. For PG Rs. 1500/- per annum for 2 years.

  4. Merit Scholarship to the Children of School Teachers (MSCT)

    Children of Primary and Secondary School Teachers only are eligible to apply for MSCT scholarship. Scholarship Amount: For UG and PG Rs. 50/- per month for 3 years and 2 years respectively.

  5. Hindi Scholarship (HS)

    First year students with Hindi as one of the subjects in the present studying course are eligible for applying the scholarship.
    Scholarship Amount: For UG Rs. 500/- per month for 3 years; For PG Rs. 1000/- per month for 2 years.

  6. Muslim Nadar Girls Scholarship (MNS)

    First year girl student of UG who belong to Forward of BPL family and Backward Community within the income limit are eligible for MNS scholarship. Annual income of the parent/guardian should not exceed Rs. 18,000/- per annum.

  7. Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship (SJMS)

    First year students of UG or PG who belong to BPL family are eligible for the scholarship. The student should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying examination.
    Scholarship Amount: For UG and PG Rs. 10000/- per annum or 3 years and 2 years respectively.

  8. Blind/PH Scholarship (BPHFC)

    Blind/PH/Deaf students studying in UG and PG are eligible for the scholarship
    Scholarship amount: Fee Charges for Blind students with family annual income below Rs. 2,00,000/-. Hostel charges for all PH students who are hostellers and whose family annual income is below Rs. 4,50,000/-. Boarding charges for all PH students who are day scholars and whose family annual income is below Rs. 4,50,000/-. Scholarship is applied as fresh in all academic years.

  9. District Merit Scholarship (DMS) Renewal

    DMS scholarship is continued from +2 level up to UG level. Student should have scored A Plus in all subjects in the SSLC Examination conducted by Board of Public Examinations, Kerala State. Scholarship amount: Rs. 1250/- per annum for 3 years

  10. Kerala University Merit Scholarship

    Meritorious students of UG & PG, who scored not less than 60% marks in the qualifying examination are eligible for Kerala University Merit Scholarship. Students enjoying any other scholarship are not eligible.
    Scholarship amount : Rs. 2500/- per annum for UG students for 3 years  & for P.G. students Rs. 3,000/- per annum for 2 years.

  11. SNEHAPOORVAM scholarship of Kerala Social Security Mission

    Students who lost one or both parents with annual income less than Rs. 20,000/- in rural areas and Rs.22375/- in urban areas and are living with family, relatives, friends, or the support of the community are eligible for the scholarship.
    Scholarship amount: UG and PG students, Rs.10,000/- per annum for 3 years for UG and for 2years for PG respectively.

  12. ASPIRE scholarship for PG/M.Phil/Ph.D programmes

    Meritorious students of the University Departments / Colleges under the University of Kerala for pursuing short term internships/projects in institutions other than their parent Colleges/University Departments are eligible for ASPIRE Scholarship.
    Scholarship amount: Rs.8000/- p.m., for internship/ project undertaken within the state and Rs.10,000/- for internship/ project undertaken outside the state. The scholarship will be provided for minimum period of one month for P.G. course and a maximum period of 4 months for M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses at a single stretch or in 2 phases depending upon the proposal.

  13. C.H. Muhammedkoya Scholarship (CHMS)

    Students who belong to Muslim, Latin, Converted Christian Community and should be a native of Kerala are eligible for CHMS Scholarship. The applicant must be a girl student studying for the first-year graduation or higher courses who have scored 50% or above in the qualifying examination. Annual income of the parent/guardian should not exceed Rs. 6 lakhs.

  14. Prof. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship (PJMS)

    Meritorious students of Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi or Jains community who are studying in BA/BSc/B. Com in Arts/science colleges are eligible for PJMS Scholarship.
    Scholarship amount: Rs. 15000/- each given to outgoing students, scores 80% in UG final year examination and 75% in PG final year examination

  15. VIDYASAMUNNATHI Scholarship

    The UG & PG students of economically backward forward communities will get educational scholarships and competitive assistance for their studies. Scholarship amount: Scholarship will be given to Undergraduate (Rs. 5000/- per year & post graduate students (Rs. 6000/- per year) Can apply as fresh in all academic years.   16. Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation (KSBCDC) Scholarship

     The economically backward OBC students whose annual income of the parents/guardian from all sources do not exceed Rs. 1,20,000/- will get educational scholarships and competitive assistance for their studies from KSBCDC.
    Scholarship amount: Rs. 5000/- per year to undergraduate & post graduate level for 3 years and 2years respectively.

  17. PRATHIBHA Scholarship (KSCSTE, Govt. of Kerala)

    Prathibha Scholarship Programme is an initiative of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE). The objective of the programme is to motivate bright students to Higher studies in Basic and Natural Sciences by awarding them Scholarships.
    To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must be a domicile of Kerala who passed Higher Secondary Examination (Class 12) from Kerala and scored a minimum of 90% marks in aggregate and in all the Science subjects put together (80% in case of SC/ST students)
    Scholarship amount: Rs. 12000/-, Rs. 18000/- and Rs. 24000/- for first, second and final year respectively for undergraduate students selected and Rs. 40000/- and Rs. 60000/- for MSc and integrated PG students for first and second year respectively.

  18. Student Aid Fund (SAF) Scholarships from Kerala University Union

    Eligibility: Students of Degree & P.G. classes whose parents' annual income does not exceed Rs. 10,0000 per annum are eligible for SAF Scholarship.

    The income limit for granting scholarship is Rs.10000/- for degree and P.G. courses. The amount of scholarship is Rs.750/- per year for Degree & Rs. 1,000/- year for post graduate courses.

INSTITUTIONAL LEVEL SCHOLARSHIPS

Merit scholarships are given at institutional level to the toppers of university examination in both undergraduate and post graduate courses. Endowment awards on merit-cum means basis are also provided at institution level.

  1. Prof. P. K. Veena Endowment Award

    Prof. P. K. Veena Endowment Award is in the memory of former faculty of Chemistry Department, Prof. P. K. Veena. The scholarship is awarded to the student who scores the highest mark for the final year BSc Chemistry Degree Examination.
    Scholarship Amount: Scholarship amount of Rs. 2000/- is given to selected students.

  2. Merit Scholarship

    Merit scholarship is sponsored by the staff association of the college and is awarded to the topper in each subject in the Merit Day function.
    Scholarship Amount: Rs.2000/- is awarded to the topper in each subject.

  3. S. Ramachandran Memorial Scholarship

    The scholarship is supported by M. Krishnamurthy, alumni of 1974-76 PDC batch of our college and is instituted in memory of his father Shri. S. Ramachandran to three meritorious but needy students of final year UG Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics Departments based on their annual income and academic excellence up to third semester.
    Scholarship Amount: Rs. 10000/- is awarded to selected students.
