Department of Physical Education

The Department of Physical Education was established in 1965 envisioned to empower the students to develop healthy habits, instill fitness literacy and to become life long participants of physical activity. The department has been working relentlessly and provides ample opportunity to the students to utilize the leisure time with physical activities to reduce their stress and inculcate a life time behavior in the day-to-day education system.Different sports and game teams of our college participate in several intercollegiate, district, state, national and interuniversity tournaments andbring glory and laurels to the college. The Department conducts annual sports day and organizes functions to honour the students who have come out with flying colours.The college cherishes a very proud tradition of sports and can claim its alumni sportsmen of national and international reputation.

Infrastructure

The department has a modern Multi-gymnasium and Health club which can be used by twenty sports persons simultaneously. A Multi- purpose indoor hall has been used for playing shuttle badminton, performing aerobics and yoga. The college also have a Foot Ball field, 200 meters Track for Athletic events, and Cricket Field.

Activities
College Athletic teams (Men and Women) have been performing exceptionally good in the Kerala university, Kollam district and Kerala state athletic championships.The college was able to march towards eminence with the achievement made by our cross country (Men and Women) teams in the Kerala universitycrosscountry championship.SidharthJayan of our college had been crowned as Mr. Kerala university for the second consecutive year and our college’s Best physique team brought praise and prestige to our institution. Weight lifting and Power lifting teams also brought laurels to our college by winning medals in the Kerala university championship.Many of our athletes participated in the All India Interuniversity championship and excelled themselves.Apart from the above Football, Cricket,Shuttle badminton,Wrestling, Taekwondo teams are participating in various intercollegiate tournaments.
