Department of Economics

The Department of Economics was established in 1965 and catered to the training of Pre-degree and BA History Main Degree students of the college, till the delinking of the Pre Degree course from colleges. The Department focused mainly on the BA subsidiary students since 1980, and now with the commencement of first degree programme (UG) in Economics in 2013 , became separated as a full-fledged department.

Infrastructure

The department exists in separate building with necessary facilities to cater to the academic needs of the BA subsidiary students.

Activities

Prof. N. Surendran, former HoD, is serving as a Faculty member of the Department of Social Sciences, University of Kerala.

Continuous assessments of students are being done based on attendance, marks scored in seminars and assignments, performance in test papers etc. Apart from the mid-term and model examinations monthly and class test papers are regularly given.
