National Service Scheme (NSS)
NSS is a movement which aims at the physical, mental and spiritual development of the young students. It cultivates a sense of duty, co-operation and self-help in the students. The NSS helps in moulding the youth of tomorrow in such a way that they become active participants in nation building efforts at different levels. The NSS in the college is playing an active role in developing the personality of students through community service. Its motto is “Not me, but you”. This expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation for other’s point of view. It instills a sense of consideration for fellow human beings and the welfare of society as a whole.
The effective functioning of the NSS in the college was recognized at the National, State and University levels. Numerous programmes like Seminars, Blood Grouping and Blood Donation Camps, Eye Donation camp, AIDS awareness programmes, Leadership/Capacity Building Camps, Anti-drug campaigns, Anti-ragging camps, Tree planting, Plastic and Waste Removal Programmes, Legal Literacy Programmes, Campus Cleaning Programmes, Nature Camps, Annual Seven Day camps, Awareness Creating Programmes etc. were successfully undertaken. A Socio Economic and Health survey was conducted in the Piravanthoor Panchayat. The NSS units observed the International Blood Donor’s Day, National Blood Donation Day, World AIDS Day, Gandhi Jayanthi Day, NSS Day, etc. with many innovative programmes. NSS volunteers also participate in several training programmes conducted by several institutions, Inter Collegiate Level camps, University Level Camps etc.
Students can enroll as volunteers of the NSS. Active participants would get certificates and bonus marks for admission to higher studies.
